M. Track Takes Fourth at BU Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston College men's track team finished fourth out of seven teams at the Boston University Invitational on Saturday. The Eagles scored 51 points in their first meet of the season.
In his first race of the season, Jack Hennessey hit the IC4A standard with his time of 1:04.73 in the 500m dash. The senior took second overall in the race wile teammates Connor O'Neill (1:05.67), Ryan Cooney (1:07.21) Caelum Donohue (1:07.81) took fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively.
Mitchell McGinty took third overall in the high jump with a height of 6'6(3/4)", setting a personal record. The sophomore cleared his final height on his third and last attempt, while the top two finishers had the same height but were both able to get over successfully on their first chances. McGinty also set a personal record in the shot put with his throw of 11.92m which was good for tenth.
In his collegiate debut, freshman Obinna Nwanko took first in his heat of the 400m dash with a time of 49.76 and placed fifth overall in the event.
Junior Daniel Ashenden set a personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 22.77 and finished seventh overall, while his time of 7.22 was good for sixth in the 60m dash.
Timothy Ferris had the third-best performance in the 1000m run with a time of 2:32.30.
The Eagles also performed well in the relays, as the 4x400m team took second with a time of 3:20.80.
BC will take a month off before returning to action January 12 for the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H.
