Six Athletes Sign NLI for BC Softball

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Six athletes have signed their National Letter of Intent to play for the Boston College softball team in 2014 as announced by head coach Ashley Obrest on Tuesday. The athletes are Ally Frei, Jordan Chimento, Jessica Dreswick, Taylor Michalski, Annie Murphy and Chloe Sharabba.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome these six young ladies to our program,” said Obrest. “Not only are they accomplished softball players that understand the mission of BC Softball, but they are individuals who possess a high level of character that goes beyond the softball field. Their high school and travel ball coaches as well as their families have molded these young ladies into role models within their high schools, travel ball programs, and communities. “

New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013… The Star-Ledger’s Player of the Year in 2013… All-West Jersey Player of the Year…. First-team All-State selection … Featured in Sports Illustrated “Faces in the Crowd” on August 6, 2012 and April 22, 2013.
2012 stats: 362 strikeouts, 26-0 record, three perfect games, one no-hitter, five one-hitters. Named the New Jersey Herald’s Player of the Year.
2013 stats: 22-4 record, 393 strikeouts in 186 innings, ERA of 0.19, averaged 2.12 strikeouts per inning and allowed only 5 earned runs over the course of the season, 14 shut outs, 2 no-hitters including a “perfect-perfect” on April 8, 2013 in which she struck out every one of the 21 batters she faced. Also posted a .325 batting average.
“Ally was the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year for the 2013 season and that speaks volumes as to what type of player she is,” said Obrest. “She is a gifted pitcher with a competitive edge that only elite athletes possess.”

“Jordan is a phenomenal catcher with great poise and focus behind the plate along with a fantastic arm,” said Obrest. “She has a keen eye at the plate and always has a plan of attack.”

“Jesse will join Ally on the pitching staff as well,” said Obrest. “She brings a great presence to the mound and is a pure competitor. “

2013 Stats: .401 batting average, .512 OBP, 29 runs, 21 RBI's, 12 doubles, 3 triples -- 1st Team All Area, 1st Team All District, Honorable Mention All-State, Pride, Hustle, Desire Award.
“Taylor is an outstanding outfielder that comes to us from the Beverly Bandits,” said Obrest. “Her speed and range in the outfield will be a great addition to our defense.”

1st Team- All Tri County conference & Gloucester County as a SO/JR … collected 100th hit junior year… set career hit record at Deptford High School junior year … garnered First Team All-South Jersey, Second Team All Group 2 junior year.
“Annie is a lefty outfielder that is capable of playing any outfield position,” said Obrest. “She also brings speed and aggressiveness to our program. “

2012 stats: .391 batting average, 24 RBIs, set fielding record at Alison Niguel High School with only committing 2 errors in 129 attempts.
2013 Stats: .522 batting average
“Chloe is a true athlete who can play second base or shortstop,” said Obrest. “Her skills, both at the plate and in the field, will set her apart from others.”
