- Saturday’s game against NC State will mark the final home game for 18 Boston College football players. They are (alphabetically): WR Alex Amidon, DB Ted Davenport, LB Steele Divitto, DE Kasim Edebali, K/P Nate Freese, LB Connor Galligan, QB Mike Marscovetra, TE Mike Naples, TE C.J. Parsons, OL Matt Patchan, LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, DL Kaleb Ramsey, QB Chase Rettig, DL Jaryd Rudolph, TE/FB Jake Sinkovec, OL Ian White, RB Andre Williams and DB Zach Wolfe.
Doak Walker Award Semifinalist
- Boston College senior running back Andre Williams, who leads the nation in rushing yards (1,471) and rushing yards per game (163.4), has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award given annually to college football's top running back. Williams, a 6-foot, 227-pound product of Schnecksville, Pa., who is averaging 6.0 yards per carry, has rushed for more than 200 yards three times and more than 250 yards twice this season. Most recently, he registered 30 rushing attempts for a school-record 295 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns in the team’s 48-34 win at New Mexico State (Nov. 9). His total ranks fourth on Boston College’s single-season rushing list, behind former Eagles Williams Green (1,559; 2001), Derrick Knight (1,721; 2003) and BC single-season record holder Mike Cloud (1,726; 1998).
ACC Co-LB of the Week
- Boston College senior middle linebacker Steele Divitto earned Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Linebacker of the Week honors with Duke’s Kelby Brown after he recorded a game-high 18 tackles, including six solo tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, in the Eagles’ 48-34 win at New Mexico State. His tackling total marked a season high and equaled his career best, which he achieved against Army in 2012. Divitto has registered 80 tackles, including 34 solo tackles, through nine games in 2013 and ranks third among ACC leaders in average tackles per game with 8.9.
Approaching a record
- Senior Alex Amidon has 163 receptions for 2,406 yards in 41 career games. He is second on the school’s all-time receiving yards list and enters Saturday’s game at New Mexico State just 53 receiving yards shy of former Eagle and current offensive graduate assistant coach Rich Gunnell’s BC record of 2,459 receiving yards from 2006-09.
Disciplined Eagles
- BC leads its conference -- and ranks third in the country -- in both fewest penalties per game and fewest penalty yards per game. Through nine games this season, the Eagles have been penalized 30 times totaling 262 yards.
Effective in the Red Zone
- Out of 123 teams, BC checks in fifth among FBS institutions in red-zone offense through nine games in 2013. The Eagles have scored on 18-of-19 chances inside the red zone and are in second place among league opponents. BC has scored 11 touchdowns (seven rushing touchdowns and four passing touchdowns) and has kicked seven field goals to account for their 18 scores from inside the red zone.
Record Breaking Receiver
- Six-foot, 182-pound receiver Alex Amidon is a returning All-ACC first-team honoree who caught eight passes for 88 yards and one touchdown to break BC’s career receiving yards record in the team’s 48-34 win at New Mexico. Amidon, who now has 171 receptions for 2,494 receiving yards, surpassed Rich Gunnell (2,459 yards from 2006-09) to achieve the standard. Amidon’s 30-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter lifted the Eagles to a 27-17 lead at the time. Amidon ranks fourth among league receivers with an average of 6.3 receptions per game. He ranks ninth among conference receivers with an average of 80.7 receiving yards per game.
