CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's soccer team will host the University of San Francisco in a non-conference matchup on Saturday at the Newton Campus Field at 1 p.m.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides on the pitch. The first two matches ended in draws, a scoreless one in 1979 and then a 1-1 tie in 1982 - both of those contests were played at Boston College. The last time these two teams met was in 1996 at the UConn Soccer Classic when the Dons won, 2-1.
Boston College enters the weekend with a 2-3-1 record and lost at No. 2 Connecticut Tuesday night, 2-0. Prior to that, the Eagles played at Virginia Tech September 14 and came away with a 1-1 tie. Senior Kevin Mejia leads the team with two goals while freshman Derrick Boateng has a team-high two assists.
San Francisco has not lost since its season-opening setback against Stanford on August 24. The Dons are 2-1-2 and most recently went on the road at California and played the Golden Bears to a scoreless draw. They are 1-0-1 on the road this year and have allowed four goals in five matches (none on the road).
Saturday begins a three-game home stand for the Eagles. They host Rhode Island on September 25 before getting back into ACC action with NC State on September 28 in Newton.
