Melchionda and Bourdon Named to Baseball's All-ACC Team

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Senior Anthony Melchionda and sophomore Tom Bourdon of the Boston College baseball team were voted to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference second team on Monday, the league announced. These are the first such accolades for both Eagles (22-33, 10-20 ACC) and the first for BC since 2010 when Mickey Wiswall was selected to the first team.
Melchionda, a shortstop from Braintree, Mass., started in 53 games for the Eagles in 2012 and was named ACC Player of the Week twice. He led the team in runs scored (39) and was second in batting average (.310), slugging percentage (.476), on- base percentage (.389), hits (65), RBIs (35), doubles (17), multiple-hit games (21) and tied for second with six home runs. His batting average was tied for 20th in the ACC, while his .339 league average ranked sixth. He finished his career with 205 hits, tied for sixth in BC record books, and 117 RBIs, tied for ninth.

All 12 conference squads were represented on the 2012 All-ACC Baseball Team. Florida State's James Ramsey was Player of the Year while head coach Mike Martin earned Coach of the Year accolades. NC State's Carlos Rodon was named Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
