Men's Tennis Loses Close Battle to Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Boston College men's tennis team fell to Wake Forest, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. The Eagles (5-13, 1-9 ACC) tallied three singles wins, but the Demon Deacons (11-12, 2-6 ACC) swept the doubles matches and clinched the match with three singles victories.
The 36th-ranked pair in the nation, seniors Akash Muppidi and Alex Skinner fell to David Hopkins and Amogh Prabhakar, 8-5, on the first doubles court, while Danny Kreyman and Adam Lee defeated junior Billy Grokenberger and sophomore Michael McGinnis, 8-2, on court two. On the third court, Conner Sherwood and Alex Tsai beat freshmen Philip Nelson and Matt Wagner, 8-5, for the sweep.
In singles action, Kreyman started it off with a win over Grokenberger on court two, as the Eagle retired after losing the first set, 6-2, and the first game of the second set, 1-0. Prabhakar defeated Skinner on the third court, 6-3, 6-1, and Lee beat sophomore Jonathan Raude, 6-1, 6-1, on court four to take a 4-0 lead.
The Eagles tallied the last three wins of the match with junior Klaus Puestow starting things off with a 6-3, 6-4, victory over Sherwood in the No. 6 spot. Muppidi earned his eighth victory at the No. 1 single position, defeating Hopkins, 6-4, 6-3. Nelson finished the contest with a thrilling win over Tsai, 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).
BC returns to the courts on April 15, taking on Duke at home at 11 a.m.
