BOSTON - The Boston College softball team lost a 1-0 decision to Boston University on Thursday evening at BU Softball Field. Junior Nicole D'Argento led the Eagles (16-10) with two hits, while also throwing all six innings. The Ashland, Mass. native limited the Terriers (15-9) to one run, four hits and struck out three batters in the loss.

BU hurler Holli Floetker also tossed a complete game, striking out five batters and allowing four hits.

D'Argento opened the game with a single up the middle. The utility fielder moved around the bases on a sac bunt from Rene Delagrammaticas and ground out by CJ Chirchigno. Wilkins was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners, but when a throw down to first to pick the captain off failed BU got D'Argento trying to swipe home for the final out.

The Terriers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Mask drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a fielder's choice to third, with O'Connor reaching first safely. BC tagged BU for a 4-3 double play, but a single down the right field line brought Mask in on the next play.

Maria Pandolfo led the second off with a single to third. The junior stole second on a hit and run and took third with Chelsea LoBue swiping second simultaneously. Two strikeouts ended the Eagles threat.

The Eagles were retired in order from the third to the sixth, while the Terriers drew a walk in the fifth, but were otherwise sat down in order.

After hitting a double and drawing a walk with one out, BU threatened to extend its lead in the sixth, but D'Argento got Roesch to pop up to third and Fernandez to ground out to second to end the frame.

Brittany Wilkins singled to center to open the seventh and was moved up on a sac bunt by Pandolfo. Sophomore Nicole Koszowski then came in to run for the catcher at second. BC grounded out to third and struck out swinging to end the game.

The Eagles will make their home opener on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m. BC hosts Dartmouth in a doubleheader. Live stats will be available via GameTracker.
