Women's Tennis Falls to Yale in ECAC Championship Semifinals

New Haven, Conn. - The No. 54 Boston College women's tennis team lost to No. 25 Yale, 7-0, at the ECAC Indoor Championships on Saturday night. The Eagles (5-4) were the fourth seed, while the host Bulldogs (5-1) were the No. 1 seed and will play for the championship. BC will play No. 38 Brown for third place on Sunday.
The Eagles could not muster a win on the day. In singles action, freshman Jessica Wacnik fell to Elizabeth Epstein, 7-6(3), 6-3, on court one, while senior Erina Kikuchi retired from her match on court two after losing the first set to Blair Seideman, 6-3. Hanna Yu defeated junior Alex Kelleher, 6-4, 7-5, in the No. 3 spot, while her doubles partner classmate Olga Khmylev fell to Stephanie Kent on court four, 6-3, 7-5. Senior Katarina Gajic lost to Annie Sullivan, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 5 spot and junior Kelly Barry lost to Amber Li by the same score on court six.
On the doubles court, doubles pair Kelleher and Khmylev, ranked 14th in the nation, fell to the 27th-ranked pair, Yu and Vicky Brook, 8-6, on court one. In the No. 2 spot, 40th-ranked Wacnik and Kikuchi lost to No. 27 Epstein and Sullivan, 8-5, and in the No. 3 spot, Gajic and junior Ina Kauppila lost to No. 41 Seideman and Kent, 8-3.
The Eagles face Brown at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19. BC lost to the Bears, 4-3, earlier this season.
