The Boston College women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 5-0 victory over non-conference foe Vermont on Sunday afternoon in front of 507 fans at the Newton Soccer Field. The Eagles are now 3-0-2 on the season, while Vermont is now 2-2-1.
Boston College was led by Kristen Mewis with one goal and one assists, while sophomores Zoe Lombard and Gibby Wagner notched two assists apiece.
The Eagles got on the board two minutes into the match when Patrice Vettori headed in a cross from Mewis. In the 33rd minute of play, Lombard started the offense from the back. She found Gibby Wagner who sent in a low ball into the box. Mewis one-time the ball from seven yards out and by a diving goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead.
With 17 minutes to play in the half, freshman Stephanie McCaffrey was tripped in the box on a 50-50 ball by the goalkeeper. BC was awarded a penalty kick and freshman Casey Morrison stepped up and notched her first career goal.
In the second half, Boston College increased the lead when freshman Rachel Davitt scored her first career goal. Davitt received a throw in from Alaina Beyar and took one touch before chipping it over the goalkeepers' hands in the 65th minute. With six minutes to play, Alicia Blose notched her second goal of the year off a pass from Wagner. It was Wagner's third assist of the match.

Boston College next game is Sunday, September 11 as the Eagles host Colgate at 1 p.m. ... The five goals marks the most scored by the Eagles since November 19 when the Eagles defeated West Virginia, 4-1, in the NCAA Tournament match ... Goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni had one save and earned her fourth shutout of the season. She is now just two away from becoming the program's all-time leader in shutouts ... Head Coach Alison Foley picked up her 196th career win today. She needs four more to reach 200.
