Men's XC Set to Welcome Freshman Class

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's cross country program is set to reload its roster as the Class of 2015 report to training camp on August 29. Six new collegians will join the Eagles' ranks and bolster a group of increasingly experienced veterans.
The large freshman class includes Pat Daly, Jose Estevez, Collin Fedor, Tim Ferris, Richard Lucas and Greg Malloy.
"I am excited about our incoming class of freshmen," Boston College Head Coach Matt Kerr said. "We are adding depth and quality with every class and we are confident that our team will continue to achieve a higher standard within the conference and region. Many of our incoming freshman improved dramatically as high school seniors and we look forward to continuing their improvement as well-rounded student athletes at Boston College."
Daly was a two-time Class L Champion at New Canaan High School in Connecticut. On the heels of his 1,000-meter championship, the four-time All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) honoree led the Rams to their first indoor state title in 53 years, as a senior. En route to collecting his third All-State accolade with the 4x800-meter relay championship during the outdoor season, Daly captured crowns at the Emerging Elite National Championship and the Loucks Tri-State Games.
Estevez will come to the Heights after claiming three consecutive 4A cross country championships at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Fla. The Dade County standout also collected numerous accolades on the track, winning state and district titles in the 4x800-meter relay and 3,200-meter events. Estevez was honored as an All-State and All-Dade County selection for his performances in the mile and two-mile competitions throughout his high school career. His PRs include a 4:20 in the 1,600-meter run, 9:23 in the 3,200-meter and a 15:41 5,000-meter time.
Fedor earned All-State accolades twice and was a four-time DuPage Valley Conference (DVC) Champion at Wheaton Warrenville South (WWS) High School. As a senior for the Tigers, the Wheaton, Ill. product claimed DVC titles in the mile and 4x800-meter relay, set a WWS record holder in the mile at 4:14, before taking eighth in the 1600-meter run at the Illinois State Championship.
Out of Berwyn, Pa., Ferris served as a captain for Conestoga High School. In his senior season, Conestoga claimed the Central League Cross Country Championship. In the spring, Ferris helped set a school record in the 4x800-meter relay, before graduating with numerous academic honors.
Lucas captained Notre Dame High School to a fourth place finish at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Championship. The native of Glendale, Calif. also led the Running Knights to third place at the CIF Sectional Meet and a team title at the prestigious Mt. Sac Sweepstakes. Lucas was tabbed for All-League honors during cross country and track seasons throughout his time at Notre Dame. He has been clocked at 1:59 in the half-mile, 4:18.5 in the mile, 8:42 in the 3,000-meter run and 9:24 in the two mile.
Malloy was a four-year standout at Cherokee High School in Marlton, N.J. As a team captain, he led the Chiefs with First-Team All-South Jersey, All-Olympic Conference and All-Burlington County honors. As a senior, Malloy took 14th place at the Group 4 meet on his way to a 25th place finish at the Meet of Champions.
The Eagles will kick-off the 2011 season at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, N.H. on September 10 at 10:30 a.m.
