Former Hobart head coach Izzi Metz has joined the Boston College men's basketball staff as director of operations, according to an announcement made by head coach Steve Donahue. Metz fills the role that Woody Kampmann held for the 2010-11 season. Kampmann was promoted to assistant coach earlier this month.
Prior to his five-year tenure at Hobart (2006-11), Metz spent five seasons as an assistant coach on Steve Donahue's staff at Cornell.
Metz spent the last five seasons (2006-11) as the head coach at Hobart College. He compiled a 69-62 record with the Statesmen. In 2010-11, Metz guided Hobart to the Liberty League regular-season crown and the ECAC Upstate tournament title. His team finished with a 21-7 mark, setting the school's single-season record for wins. In 2009-10, Metz and his assistants earned league Coaching Staff of the Year accolades. During his tenure, his recruiting classes produced three Liberty League Rookies of the Year and a two-time unanimous All-Liberty League selection.
A 1998 graduate of Hobart, Metz played basketball for the Statesmen. Following graduation, he joined the coaching staff at Bishop Montgomery High School, just south of his native Los Angeles.
He returned to Hobart as assistant coach for one season (2000-01), before joining Donahue's staff at Cornell.
