Boston College Men's Basketball Schedule Announced

Sixteen league games, three games in the 2011 76 Classic and a home game against Penn State in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge highlight the 2011-12 Boston College men's basketball schedule. The schedule was released today by the school and the ACC office.
The Eagles will begin the campaign with 14 non-league games and finish with 16 consecutive conference contests. Nine of the 14 non-league games will be played against New England foes. BC opens its season against New Hampshire in Conte Forum on Monday, Nov. 14. It will host Massachusetts (Dec.21), Boston University (Dec. 3), Bryant (Dec. 18), Sacred Heart (Dec. 21), Harvard (Dec. 29) and Rhode Island (Jan. 2), while traveling to Jesuit rival Holy Cross (Nov. 18) and former Big East foe Providence (Dec. 8).
The 2011-12 schedule features at least 10 nationally-televised contests. Additional dates could be added to this list.
After hosting New Hampshire in the opener, BC will travel to Worcester to face Holy Cross. The game against the Crusaders will be one of dozens of games played this season as part of the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight.
BC then returns home to play Massachusetts, before traveling cross-country for three games in the 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif.. The Eagles will open the tournament against Saint Louis, another Jesuit institution, on ESPNU at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24). BC will play either Villanova or UC-Riverside in the second round.
Boston College will host the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge on Nov. 30. The game will be televised by ESPNU. BC has a 5-0 record in the challenge since joining the ACC in 2005.
The Eagles begin their December slate against Boston University, and then play at Providence. BC continues with consecutive home games against Stony Brook, Bryant and Sacred Heart before Christmas, and then Harvard and Rhode Island after the holiday.
Boston College opens ACC play at North Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 7. The game against the Tar Heels marks the first of seven league contests for the Eagles in January, including four at home (Clemson on Jan. 12, Virginia Tech on Jan. 14, Wake Forest on Jan. 21, and Miami on Jan. 29).
The Eagles also host four league games in February - against North Carolina State (Feb. 1), Florida State (Feb. 8), Duke (Feb. 19) and Georgia Tech (Feb. 29). BC concludes its regular-season slate with a game at Miami (March 3).
The ACC Tournament will be played March 8-11 in Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Ga.
