Rettig, Eagles Offense Shine In 2nd Preseason Scrimmage

CHESNUT HILL, Mass. - Quarterback Chase Rettigcompleted 18-of-25 attempts for 231 yards and one touchdown to lead Boston College football in its second scrimmage of the 2011 preseason training camp on Wednesday in Alumni Stadium.
Boston College's offense registered four touchdowns - three rushing, one receiving - and connected on all four of its field goals on the night.
Rettig went 14 for his first 16 in passing attempts for 191 yards to open the scrimmage. He led the first-team offense on scoring drives that ended on successful Nate Freesefield-goal attempts from 22, 25 and 20 yards.
Quarterback Mike Marscovetra responded by leading the Eagles offense on a six-play, 72-yard drive that ended with a Tahj Kimble 26-yard touchdown run. Marscovetra finished 11-for-15 for 155 yards, including a pair of 50-plus yard passes to WR Donte Elliott(three receptions, 114 yards).
After the scrimmage's lone break, Rettig opened the second half with a 10-play, 74-yard drive that culminated with the sophomore quarterback hitting tight end Chris Pantalefor a 17-yard touchdown.
Pantale led all players with six receptions for 66 yards and one touchdown.
Running backs Andre Williams, Rolandan Finchand Kimble all carried the ball more than 10 times on the night. Williams totaled 62 yards on 19 carries, Finch recorded 66 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and Kimble tallied 95 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown run, on 11 carries.
Sophomore Alex Amidon, senior tight end Lars Anderson and freshman Spiffy Evans each caught four passes, while junior Donte Elliott, Finch, Kimble, senior captain Ifeanyi Momah, Andre Williams and Dan Williamsall caught multiple passes.
Boston College place-kickers went 4-for-4 during the scrimmage as Ryan Quigleyconnected on his lone attempt from 35 yards.
Defensively, linebackers Luke Keuchly (10 tackles), Nick Clancy (seven) and Kevin Pierre-Louis(six) combined with DB Okechukwu Okoroha (six) to lead a total of 13 players that registered four tackles or more.
Freshman defensive end Mehdi Abdesmadtallied two pass break ups.
There are 17 days to season's kickoff when Boston College hosts Northwestern in its season opener on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 12 p.m. in Alumni Stadium.

Harris Sidelined Because Of Injury
In additional Boston College football news on Wednesday, senior running back Montel Harris has sustained a knee injury and is expected to miss three-to-four weeks, according to head coach Frank Spaziani.
Scrimmage Notes: Harris, wide receiver Colin Larmond, Jr., guard Nathan Richman, center Mark Spinney, offensive lineman Dan Lembke, tight end Mike Naples and defensive tackle Kaleb Ramseyall did not participate.
