Da'Loia-Moore Rows at U23 World Championship

Amsterdam - At U23 World Rowing Championship on Thursday afternoon, Boston College sophomore Alycia Da'Loia-Moore took fourth place with a time of 8:40.32 in heat three of the women's single sculls competition held the on the Bosbaan Regatta Course.
Da'Loia-Moore drew a fourth lane start against Kaisa Pajusalu of Estonia (lane 1), Krisztina Gyimes of Hungary (lane 2), Florencia Lapostol Piderit of Chile (lane 3) and Anja Sesum of Slovenia (lane 5).
Pajusalue, a two-time indoor world champion and four-time European champion, led wire-to-wire as she used a stroke rate of 34.8 per minute to go through the first 500 meters just under two minutes. Through the first quarter, Sesum was even with the Estonian and Gyimes and Da'Loia-Moore sat on their heels at 2:02 and change.
At the half way point, the Pajusalue and Sesum were out front with healthy margins. The two continued to pick up their speed as the race unfolded and went on to take the third heat in 8:14.28 and 8:18.92, respectively.
Da'Loia-Moore battled with Sesum for third place, but the Slovenian emerged with a time of 8:37.12 to top the ACC Rookie of the Year's mark of 8:40.32.
The top two scullers from each heat advance to the semifinal round on Saturday, July 24, with a repachage round set to take place on Friday, July 23.
Da'Loia-Moore will compete in heat two of the "play-back", set to go off at approximately 12:42 p.m. (6:42 a.m. ET). The Eagle will go head-to-head against Madara Strautmane of Latvia (lane 1), Aikaterini Kikolaidou of Greece (lane 3), Lisa Dilleen of Ireland (lane 4) and Nicole Beukers of the Netherlands (lane 5).
