Greensboro, N.C. – Boston College tennis players Akash Muppidi and Katarina Gajic were named to the 2011 All-ACC Academic Teams on Thursday, June 23 as announced by Commissioner John Swofford. To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a career gpa of 3.0 or greater.

The rising senior competed as the Eagles No. 1 singles player during the 2010-11 campaign. Muppidi faced eight ITA Top 30 opponents, ended the regular season on a four match winning streak - upsetting two nationally ranked rivals – and was named to the All-ACC Team for the second straight year.
Gajic receives her first mention on the All-ACC Academic Team. The Boston College Junior Scholar-Athlete of the Year is pursuing a degree in economics within the College of Arts and Sciences. Gajic concluded the season ranked No. 123 nationally and No. 3 in the northeast region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Toronto, Ontario native compiled a 12-9 record playing on courts three, four and five. Gajic’s defeat of Duke 10th-ranked Reka Zsilinska, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(11-9), was the largest upset in the history of BC women’s tennis.
