Chestnut Hill, Ma - The Boston College coed sailing team won the 2011 Gill/ICSA Dinghy National Championship this afternoon in Cascade Locks, Oregon.
BC finished with 161 points, 27 points ahead of second place finisher Hobart. Harvard placed tied for third with Georgetown. The Eagles had a 19 point lead after the first day of racing. This is Boston College's second consecutive Co-Ed National Championship. The Eagles placed second in the Team National Championship last week.
BC was led by seniors Taylor Canfield, Emily Migliaccio, Daniel Bloomstine, Tyler Sinks, Laura McKenna, Lucy Wallace, junior Emily Massa, and sophomore Patrick Hession.
The B-Division team of Canfield, Migliaccio, Heesion, Massa and Bloomstine won the division with 66 points. The A Division team of Sinks, McKenna, Lucy Wallace placed third in the A Divisoin with 95 points.
The team won the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy for Best Overall Team at the final banquet celebrating the 2011 National Championship.
