Rowing Honored At Spring Banquets

The Boston College rowing team held its spring banquet at the Harry Parker Boathouse on Friday, April 29. Seniors Brigid Morrissey, Jasmine Howard, Stephanie Seitz, Kelly Williams, Erin Flaherty, Megan Carmody and Jane Mieczkowski were all honored for their contributions to the program.
Four-year team member Erin Flaherty was named the Athlete of the Year. The award is presented annually to the best overall contributor on the team, with factors consisting of athletic ability, boat moving skills, attitude, leadership and teamwork.
The Novice of the Year was sophomore Lauren Beebe. In her first-ever rowing season, Beebe served as a coxswain for the Eagles.
Freshman Alycia Da'Loia-Moore received the Ignatian Award, which is presented to the athlete who is an outstanding leader in terms of community and off-the-water involvement in service, while also demonstrating a lot of spirit and enthusiasm for the team.
At the All Sports Banquet held in Conte Forum on May 6, Boston College celebrated the achievements of all 31 sports.
For the second time in three years, the rowing team captured the Devlin S-AFE Ignatius Cup - presented to the three teams whose spirit and actions best exemplify the Jesuit principle of men and women for others and overall excellence.
Junior Laura Petty was honored as the Richard "Moe" Maloney Award for Community Service winner. Each year, a male and female student-athlete who have best used their talents and abilities in unselfish service to others receive this award.
In recognition of her individual commitment to community service, Flaherty received the ACC Service Award.
Thirty-two rowing members were also bestowed the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement. This year's honorees were: Lauren Beebe, Megan Carmody, Alexis Carriere, Emily Charnowski, Melissa Chavez, Emily Churchill, Alycia Da'Loia-Moore, Erin Flaherty, Victoria Goetz, Regina Hayburn, Jasmine Howard, Rhianna James, Erica Jennings, Ellen Keenan, Grace Lee, Caroline Mitton, Brigid Morrissey, Abigail Oliveira, Katelyn Olsson, Ailis Peplau, Rachel Pettis, Laura Petty, Alexandra Pierce, Stephanie Ragland, Stephanie Seitz, Karen Shu, Alex Smith, Meghan Smith, Rebekah Straneva, Madelaine Whitehead, Kelly Williams and Victoria Von Rinteln.
