XC in Clemson for ACC Championship

Chestnut Hill, Mass. –The Boston College cross country teams are in Clemson, S.C., awaiting the chance to compete for the ACC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. Five nationally ranked team on the women’s side and three of the country’s top men’s teams will navigate Musser Farms in a meet which holds great significance in national championship qualification.

Most recently, the No. 24 BC women’s squad earned its spot back on the national poll after taking 13th at the Wisconsin Invitational two weeks ago, while the men utilized the Boston Athletic Association’s Mayor’s Cup this past Sunday in Boston as a workout in preparation for ACCs.
The women look to take down four-time defending conference champion and national No. 1 Florida State, as well as No. 17 Virginia, No. 21 NC State and No. 22 North Carolina. While not currently ranked, Duke and host Clemson have also been nationally regarded this season.
The men, who have been ranked in the Northeast Region for much of the 2011 season, will be up against defending ACC champ and No. 18 Florida State, No. 19 NC State and No. 30 North Carolina.
The Eagles hosted the 2010 conference tilt, turning in 13 of their fastest times of the year and improving upon their team standings from the previous season.
Senior Jillian King led the women with a sixth place finish in a personal record time of 20:30.4 (6K) to pick up her second All-Conference accolades. BC took fourth place on 100 points.
Junior Louis Serafini paced the men’s side with a personal best of 24:51.0 (8K) for 35th place. The Eagles finished in ninth with 254 points.
Junior Bridget Dahlberg has led BC three times so far this season, with graduate Hope Krause and King also submitting times as the Eagles’ top performer.
Junior Jordan Hamm has been men’s front runner on three occasions, while Serafini has turned in one No. 1 finish for BC this year. The duo have consistently been the 1-2 punch and been running well with the front packs of large meets.
