Men's Basketball Loses To Harvard, 78-69

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Joe Trapani scored 21 points and junior Reggie Jackson netted 18 points to lead Boston College in a 78-69 loss to Harvard before 4,129 fans in Conte Forum.
Harvard, which had five players score in double figures, shot 23-of-24 from the foul line. Freshman Laurent Rivard came off the bench to pace the Crimson with a game-high 23 points.
The host Eagles jumped on top early, leading 10-2 less than four minutes into contest and 24-15 at the midpoint of the first half.
The Crimson then outscored BC 18-5 in the final 10 minutes of the half to claim a 33-29 advantage at the break. BC shot 57.1 percent (12-for-21) in the opening half, while limiting Harvard to 36.5 percent shooting (9-for-24). Harvard, though, sank 13-of-14 free throws to gain the lead.
BC never took the lead in the second half. The Eagles did narrow their deficit to one point - 45-44 - on a Trapani lay-in with 12:24 to play, but Harvard then ran off nine straight points to take a 54-44 lead with 10:34 left. The Crimson converted two old-fashioned three-point plays and one three-point field goal in its rally.
The Eagles never got closer than five points the rest of the way.
Game Notes: BC finished the game shooting 50.9 percent (29-for-57) from the field. Harvard finished shooting 44.6 percent (25-for-56) ... BC shot 4-for-8 from the line, while Harvard shot 23-for-24 ... Jackson also registered seven rebounds, five assists and two steals ... Senior Corey Raji rounded out BC's list of double-figure scorers, totaling 12 points.
