The Boston College football team held its third intra-squad scrimmage of the preseason on Sunday afternoon at a rainy Alumni Stadium.
The quarterback play was solid again as sophomore Mike Marscovetra was perfect on the day, going 12-for-12 for 90 yards and a touchdown. Classmate Dave Shinskie went 14-for-19 for 116 yards but threw an interception. True freshman Chase Rettig was 2-for-4 for 13 yards.
Sophomore Clyde Lee and true freshman Bobby Swigert led the receiving unit with five catches apiece. Lee racked up a game-high 43 yards while Swigert went for 29 yards and a score. Chris Pantale, Sterlin Phifer, Johnathan Coleman and Tahj Kimble each had three catches.
The running backs were used sparingly as the scrimmage consisted of the offense trying to drive down the field for a game-winning score as time ran down. True freshman Andre Williams got the most work, rushing three times for eight yards.
Redshirt freshman K Nate Freese showed some more power in the kicking game. He hit a 51-yarder that hit the crossbar and went through and was also good from 39 yards. He missed a 47-yarder that hit high off the left upright.
Sophomore LB Luke Kuechly led the defense with six tackles while junior SS Dominick LeGrande recorded five tackles and an interception. Senior LB Mike Morrissey, junior CB Isaac Johnson and true freshman LB Steele Divitto all had four tackles.
The Eagles will take tomorrow off before holding their final double session on Tuesday.
