Seniors Alex Albright, Anthony Castonzo, Wes Davis and James McCluskey have been elected team captains for the 2010 season.
Albright recorded 32 tackles from the defensive end last season and his eight tackles for a loss ranked second on the team. Castonzo, regarded as one of the top left tackles in the country this season, was an All-ACC and All-America preseason pick and is a Rhodes Scholarship nominee.
Davis started all 13 games at free safety last season and led the team with three interceptions. McCluskey appeared in eight games at fullback last year after recovering from a torn Achilles' tendon in the spring.
Eagles Hold Second Practice Of Preseason
The football team held its second practice of the preseason on a much cooler Shea Field this afternoon.
All eyes are still on senior Mark Herzlich who did not practice for the second-straight day. The Eagles could have one of the most formidable linebacker corps in the country when he returns to the field. Herzlich and sophomore Luke Kuechly are both All-Americans while senior Mike Morrissey and junior Will Thompson are battling for the third starting spot.
The team is gearing up for its first scrimmage on Saturday night. It will be the first test of the preseason and everyone will have a better idea of what is working and what areas need improvement.
