Marco Koolman, who joined the Boston College men's soccer staff as an assistant in February 2009, has been promoted to associate head coach, according to an announcement made by head coach Ed Kelly.
Koolman is entering his second season on Kelly's coaching staff. Last fall, Boston College finished with a 14-9 overall record, including a 5-3 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Eagles advanced to the league tournament's semifinal round and the NCAA Tournament's third round.
Koolman came to the Heights from Rindge, N.H., where he guided Franklin Pierce to six straight NCAA Division II Tournaments berths, culminating in two Final Four appearances and the 2007 national championship. The Ravens posted a 125-45-21 record during his nine-year tenure (2000-08).
BC returns 12 letterwinners from last year' team to the 2010 squad, including two All-ACC second-team honorees in midfielder Karl Reddick and goalkeeper Justin Luthy. The Eagles will welcome eight newcomers this fall.
