Boston College placed four student-athletes on the 2010 Preseason All-ACC Football team in voting conducted by the media at the ACC Football Kickoff this weekend at the Grandover Resort.
Seniors Anthony Castonzo and Thomas Claiborne, junior Montel Harris and sophomore Luke Kuechly were all voted to the preseason team.
The Eagles had the second-most selections on the team after North Carolina. The Tar Heels placed five players on the preseason squad and all of them came from the defensive side of the ball.
Castonzo is regarded as one of the best left tackles in the country entering the season. He has been named to three preseason All-America teams, including Lindy's first team, Sporting News third team and the Playboy preseason team. Last season, he was a SI.com All-America honorable mention and an All-ACC first team selection.
Claiborne has started the last 25 games on the offensive line and in 2008, was an All-ACC second team selection and a College Football News All-Sophomore second team honoree.
Harris emerged as the workhorse of the offense last season and proved to be one of the best backs in the country. He was a SI.com All-America honorable mention and an All-ACC second team performer. Harris recorded eight 100-yard games and his 1,457 rushing yards were the fourth-most in a season at BC.
Kuechly stepped into the starting lineup after the loss of Mark Herzlich and flourished as a true freshman. He was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year and to the All-ACC first team. He was also tabbed an All-American by several outlets. Entering this year, he was named to the Sporting News Preseason All-America first team and to Lindy's preseason All-America second team.
The Eagles open the 2010 season on September 4 against Weber State.
