Baseball Is Eighth Seed In ACC Championship; Faces Virginia Wednesday

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College baseball team has earned the eighth seed in the 2010 ACC Championship and will face top seeded and top ranked Virginia in the opening game of the tournament on Wednesday at noon at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro.
As the eighth seed, the Eagles have been placed in Division A with the Cavaliers, fourth-seeded Miami and fifth-seeded Florida State. Division B consists of No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 6 Virginia Tech and No. 7 NC State.
Under the pool-play format, each team will play one game against each of the other three opponents in its division Wednesday-Saturday. The two teams with the best records within their respective division brackets will advance to the title game on Sunday, with the winner earning the ACC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Boston College will face Miami on Thursday in its second game and then finish pool play with Florida State on Friday. Both of those games are scheduled for noon as well. All three contests will be aired live on NESN. For full TV listings, click the link above.
In addition, the games will be broadcast live on XM radio channel 190 and Sirius 215.
The Eagles went 2-1 in pool play in its first ACC Championship last year. After losing to Florida State in the opening game, the Eagles beat Georgia Tech, 7-3, and Miami, 10-1.
