Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College sailing team earned the number one ranking in the coed and women's sailing rankings this week's as announced by Sailing World. The Eagles earned the No. spot in the Coed Poll with 413 points, while St. Mary's is second with 385 points and Georgetown is third with 363 points. Yale (345 points) and Roger Williams (324) round out the top five.
In the women's poll, Boston College is just four points ahead of second place Brown with 284 points. Charleston is third with 274 points, while St. Mary's is fourth (271 points) and Harvard is in fifth (230 points).
Sailing Word's college rankings are determined by an open coach's poll. Twenty-one coaches submitted votes for this week's poll. This week's rankings are the fifth national rankings for the Spring 2010 season.
Boston College is coming off a successful weekend on the water. The Eagles placed third behind Brown and Harvard at the Reed Trophy Tournament. In the Division A competition, Annie Haeger, Briana Provancha and Emily Massa placed third with 46 points. The team of Emily Maxwell, Elizabeth Dudley and Katy Nastro placed third with 53 points in the Division B races.

The Admiral's Cup Kings Point the Eagles placed sixth. In the A Division race, Taylor Canfield, Sandra Williams and Ryan Mullins placed first with 87 points. In the B Division race, the Eagles finished eighth. Christian Manchester and Patrick Hession finished the race with 155 points. In the C Division race, Ian Donahue raced to a 13th place.
Boston College is coming off a fourth place finish at the Thompson Tournament Trophy, hosted by the Coast Guard. The Eagles team of Tyler Sinks, Lucy Wallace and Laura McKenna placed fourth in the Division A races. Evan Cooke and Emily Migliaccio placed third in the Division B races.
