GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior CF Robbie Anston has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.
Anston continued his torrid hitting streak throughout the week and helped BC to a 4-0 record, including a three-game sweep at NC State. He recorded three hits in all four games and is currently on a nine-game hitting streak. Anston has recorded two or more hits and an extra base hit in each of the last six games.
The Odessa, Fla. product led the Eagles in batting (.545), runs (9), hits (12), doubles (3), homers (2), RBI (9), total bases (23) and slugging (1.045) and was second in on-base percentage (.545) for the week. In the first game of the series at NC State, Anston accounted for six of BC's nine runs as he drove in three and scored three runs of his own.
The senior also came up big in clutch situations as he drove in the game-winning runs on Saturday. With the bases loaded with one out and the score tied, Anston singled to center on a 1-2 count to drive in two runs to give BC the 10-8 win. Then on Sunday with BC down 7-6 in the top of the eighth, he led off with a solo home run to tie the game in the eventual comeback win.
Anston and the Eagles host Quinnipiac Tuesday at 3 p.m. before traveling to Dartmouth on Wednesday.
