Eagles Wrap Spring Season With Jay McGillis Football Game

Sophomore quarterback Mike Marscovetra went 13-for-16 through the air for 146 yards and one touchdown to lead the Eagle offense in a 42-41 win over the defense in Boston College's Jay McGillis Spring Football game on Saturday in Alumni Stadium.
At halftime, senior CB DeLeon Gause was named the recipient of the Jay McGillis Memorial Scholarship, awarded annually to a deserving defensive player.
Both the offense and defense received points for various plays/achievements, including first downs (one point), explosive plays (two points), sacks (one point), pass breakups (one point) and turnovers (three points). A detailed scoring list is attached.
Marscovetra connected with 6-foot-5 senior tight end Jordon McMichael for the game's lone touchdown - a 15-yard strike.
Fellow sophomore QB Dave Shinskie finished the day completing 6-of-12 passes for 50 yards, while freshman Joshua Bordner went 7-for-12 in passing attempts for 83 yards. Classmate Chase Rettig went 4-for-12 for 48 yards and two picks - both by sophomore DB Alex Currelley.
Sophomore Clyde Lee led all receivers with six receptions while senior Ryan Lindsey gained a scrimmage-high 81 yards which included a 44-yard completion from Marscovetra. McMichael gained 48 yards on three receptions while Lee totaled 44 yards on his six catches.
Sophomore tailback Mike Javorski accounted for 68 positive yards. He gained 34 yards on 10 rushing attempts while also catching two passes for 34 yards. Junior running back Montel Harris carried six times for 21 yards and caught two passes for 20 yards.
Senior Chris Fox ran the ball eight times for 46 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore DE Max Holloway registered six tackles which included four sacks for a net loss of 24 yards. Senior defensive ends Alex Albright and Ifeanyi Momah each tallied two sacks.
Sophomore LB Luke Kuechly led all Eagles with eight tackles while junior CB Isaac Johnson and sophomore DB Jim Noel each notched five solo stops.
Junior kicker Michael Sodic went 2-for-2 in field-goal attempts on the day, connecting on a pair of 34-yard attempts. Sophomore Gerald Levano punted four times and averaged 41 yards with a long of 57.
