Women's Rowing Kicks Off Spring Season At Jesuit Invitational

The Boston College women's rowing team began its spring season on Saturday, March 20, at the eleventh annual Jesuit Invitational on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.
The regatta is hosted by St. Joseph's University and features only Jesuit universities competing for the Cannonball Trophy, awarded to the team with the most overall points from the day's races.
With a beautiful mid-70 degrees day and a slight cross-tail wind, the Eagles had a strong showing in their first competition of the spring. BC entered three races - the Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8 and the Novice [Freshmen] 8.
The Varsity 8 (Cox- Brigid Morrissey, 8- Erin Flaherty, 7- Laura Petty, 6- Amy Feinberg, 5- Elisabeth Lobkowicz, 4- Emily Charnowski, 3- Emily Ryan, 2- Victoria Greco, 1- Erin Roche) captured third place on the 2000-meter course in a time of 6:58.1.
BC's 2nd Varsity 8 (Cox- Marlene O'Hara, 8- Kelly Williams, 7- Megan Carmody, 6- Stephanie Seitz, 5- Brett Erickson, 4- Victoria Von Rinteln, 3- Morgan Forester, 2- Rosanne Burns, 1- Chenny Zhang) finished less than five seconds behind St. Joseph's in second place in a time of 7:00.8.
The Novice [Freshmen] 8 (Cox- Allison Chase, 8- Kristin Albright, 7- Raychel Kruper, 6- Brooke Sharpton, 5- Sarah Loiselle, 4- Victoria Goetz, 3- Erica Jennings, 2- Regina Hayburn, 1- India DuBois) raced to a third place finish with a time of 7:44.0.
Host St. Joseph's University took home the Cannonball Trophy.
Boston College continues its spring competition against Dartmouth, Northeastern and Rhode Island on Saturday, April 3 on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.
