Dean Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior LHP Pat Dean has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.

Dean tossed 8.0 shutout innings against No .13 Miami Friday night to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 win at Alex Rodriguez Park.

Dean confused and jammed batters all night despite facing a potent Miami lineup that produced 9.9 runs a game entering the evening. The Naugatuck, Conn. product allowed six hits and had a season-high nine strikeouts. Only three runners were able to get into scoring position with Dean on the bump.

In his last three outings against the Hurricanes dating back to last season, Dean is 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA - allowing one run in 22.0 innings - and has struck out 21 while walking two.

Dean and the Eagles have a pair of non-conference games at UConn on Tuesday and at Bryant on Wednesday before traveling to No. 1 Virginia for a three-game set this weekend.
