The Boston College lacrosse team will open the 2010 schedule this Saturday when the team will travel to meet Bryant at 12:00 p.m. in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
The Eagles managed to put together an impressive 2009 season, finishing the year with a 9-9 record and winning more than eight games for only the third time in team history. The team also set numerous BC records during the season, including largest margin of victory (20-1 over Niagra), most caused turnovers (238) and most goals scored (220).
As the new season approaches, Head Coach Bowen Holden has high hopes that last year's success will carry over to this season.
"I think we are as ready as we have ever been going into a season," Holden said. "Our mindsets are in the right place and we are ready to go. Everyone is excited to see how all the hard work that we have put in over the past few months will pay off."
"Starting off with Bryant, we are ready to go and to see what we can do against them."
Senior tri-captain Lauren Costello looks to lead the way on the attack for the Eagles. She is currently fifth on BC's all-time scoring list with 157 and has registered in the top-10 in single-season points scored for all three year's thus far.
The Eagles will also look to captains Peyton Killeen and Blair Clancy to run the midfield and defense, respectively, this season.
Junior goalkeeper Sheila Serafino has also stepped into a major role this season, as she will assume the first-team duties in net this year, following the departure of Katie Monaghan at the end of last year.
Boston College will open its home schedule on Friday, February 26 at 3:00 p.m. against Canisius.
