CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Reggie Jackson scored 22 points, including 15 in the second half, and the Eagles fought back from an early 16-point deficit to gain a hard-fought 84-80 win over Bucknell before 4,116 fans in Conte Forum.
Trailing 37-21 with 8:19 remaining in the first half, BC ran off 14 straight points to narrow the Bison advantage to two points. Senior Joe Trapani tallied eight points in this rally. BC trailed 42-39 at the intermission.
Bucknell, which finished the game with a Conte Forum record 15 three-pointers (on 29 attempts), made seven treys in the opening half.
The host Eagles took their first lead at 60-59 on the Jackson three-pointer with 9:56 to play. BC took the lead for good - 79-76 - on a Biko Paris trey with 2:18 left.
BC evened the score at 45-45 early in the second half, but the visitors answered with consecutive three-pointers to reclaim the lead at 51-45 with 16:13 remaining. Bucknell increased its lead to seven points - 57-50 - before the Eagles used a 10-2 run to gain their first advantage of the night.
Bucknell responded with a three-pointer to take its final lead - 62-60 - with 9:23 left. Senior Josh Southern scored off an offensive rebound and Paris sank a three-pointer to give BC a 65-62 cushion.
After BC took its biggest lead of the game - 76-70 - on two Southern free throws with 3:29 to play, the Bison hit back-to-back treys to even the score for the final time. Paris then sank the last of his four three-pointers to push the Eagles ahead for good.
Jackson hit one free throw; Southern converted a field goal; and Paris drained two free throws - all in the final minute - to secure the win for the home team.
Game Notes: BC, which entered the game ranked fourth in the nation in (lowest) turnovers per game at 10.1, committed just five turnovers tonight. BC had nine assists and four turnovers in the first 20 minutes, before recording an impressive 10 assists and one turnover in the second half ... BC made 12 three pointers, marking the seventh time this season that the team has made 10 or more treys in a game ... Jackson, who ranked second in the ACC in field-goal percentage entering the game, boosted his percentage to 54.0 percent after hitting on 8-of-10 attempts (3-for-4 treys) in the contest. Jackson also contributed six assists, four rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal. He did not commit a single turnover in 36 minutes of action ... Senior Corey Raji came off the bench and posted seven points, seven rebounds and four assists (no turnovers) in 31 minutes ... Prior to Bucknell hitting 15 three-pointers, the Conte Forum three-point record was shared by three teams - all with 14: Boston College (vs. Hartford, Jan. 31, 2007), Villanova (Jan. 14, 2004) and Providence (Feb. 1, 1996) ... BC's comeback from 16 points down marked its biggest come-from-behind win since rallying from a 17-point deficit at Miami on Jan. 19, 2010. In that game, BC trailed 58-41 with 15:46 remaining in the second half ... BC made 30 field goals, marking the third time in the last four games that the team has made 30 or more field goals ... Trapani and Southern both finished with 16 points and six rebounds, while Paris posted 14 points (4-for-8 treys) and seven assists.
