CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Yale sophomore Austin Morgan sank six three-pointers in a 25-point effort to lead Yale to a 75-67 win over Boston College before 3,813 fans in Conte Forum.
The visiting Bulldogs sank 12 three-point field goals in the game - seven in the first half and five in the second half. BC shot 3-for-19 from long range.
Junior Reggie Jackson paced the Eagles with a career-high 30 points. He also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in 39 minutes of action.
Yale led 17-10 with 10:26 left in the first half, before BC used a 9-2 run to knot the score at 19-19 on a Jackson dunk with 6:33 left. The Bulldogs answered with consecutive treys to regain the lead. Yale led 30-25 at halftime.
BC never got closer than five points until the final 40 seconds of the game.
Yale took its biggest lead of the night - 48-32 - with 14:33 to play. The Bulldogs hit four three-pointers and one two-pointer to extend a four-point cushion to 16 points.
The Eagles narrowed the deficit to seven points - 54-47 - with 9:01 left, but Yale responded with a 7-2 run to regain a double-digit advantage (61-49).
BC did close the margin to five points - 67-62 - on two Corey Raji free throws with 2:40 to play. After holding the visitors scoreless on their next two possessions, BC failed to convert, missing three field-goal attempts and two free-throw attempts.
Yale shot 8-for-8 from the foul line in the final minute of play.
Game Notes: BC was outrebounded, 31-27 ... Yale's 12 three-pointers ties for the fifth-highest three-point field-goal total by the opponent in Conte Forum history. The Bulldogs shot 57.1 percent from beyond the arc ... Raji finished with 12 points, while Joe Trapani totaled 10 points ... Senior Josh Southern made his 2010-11 debut, tallying two points and two assists in eight minutes of action.
