Freshmen Women Find Success At Foot of the Charles

The Novice A boat finished in fourth place with a time of 13:47, 36 seconds off winner Radcliffe's time. The Novice B boat finished eighth and first of all the B boats with a time of 14:21, beating out six teams' A boats. The Novice C boat rowed across the finish line at 14:56 as the fastest C boat on the course, beating out two teams' A boats and every school's B boat except for Boston University. "The athletes raced aggressively and with a tremendous amount of focus," commented Assistant Coach Amy Weatherby. "The team showed an exceptional amount of depth with their strong B and C boat finishes. It was great to see all 3 boats proud of their own and their teammates efforts in our final race of the Fall season."
The Varsity women's portion of the race was in four-man shells, designed to allow the teams' top varsity athletes to compete in fours rather than their usual events, the varsity and 2nd varsity 8's. The Eagles raced 4 fours and improved on last year's time by 20 seconds in their "A" boat. "It was a great day for racing and for the most part we were happy with how we raced" remarked Head Coach Steve Fiske. "We set some goals to improve on last year's times and placing, and achieved part of that with our A four. The standard is clearly high in our region however and we will need to step it up this winter to achieve our goals in the spring." The Eagles Varsity A boat finished with a time of 14:22 and putting them in 15th place of 49 entries. The Varsity B boat finished in 41st place with a time of 15:25, while the C and D boats ended in 44th and 49th place, respectively.
