Women's Basketball Cruises Past Dartmouth, 84-46

Junior Carolyn Swords notched her fifth consecutive double-double (18 points and 12 rebounds) as Boston College (9-6) defeated Dartmouth (4-9), 84-46, in front of 606 fans at Conte Forum.
The Eagles had five players in double figures. Along with Swords, senior Mickel Picco added 14 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the three-point line, while Stefanie Murphy had 10 points and seven rebounds. Junior Jaclyn Thoman added 10 points, while sophomore Jasmine Gill notched 13 points.
BC never trailed in the contest as the Eagles opened the game on a 12-4 run behind six points from Swords and four from Murphy. In the run continued as BC pushed the lead to 24-4 when Swords hit a layup at 10:45 in the game. A foul shot by Dartmouth's Brittney Smith (eight points, four rebounds) at 9:59 broke a 17 point offensive run by BC.
The Eagles shot 60 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the three-point line. Swords finished the half with 14 points and six rebounds, while Murphy and Picco added six points apiece.
In the second half the lead swelled to 30 points as Swords notched eight points to start the half. Gill scored nine of her 13 points, while freshman Mary Nwachukwu notched eight points late in the second half. BC shot 56 percent from the floor. The Eagles won the battle of the boards, 33-28.
