CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Rakim Sanders scored 21 points and classmate Joe Trapani netted 18 points to lead Boston College to an 89-32 win over NJIT before 2,169 fans in Conte Forum.
Sophomore Reggie Jackson scored 15 points to round out BC's list of double-figure scorers.
The host Eagles jumped out to an early 7-2 lead and withstood an 8-0 NJIT run, before outscoring the visiting Highlanders 38-4 over the final 16 minutes of the first half. BC led 45-14 at the break.
After NJIT registered four consecutive field goals to claim a 10-7 lead with 16:02 remaining in the first half, BC held the visitors scoreless for five minutes while reeling off 16 straight points. Trapani scored eight points in the rally, which left BC with a 23-10 advantage.
NJIT's field goal with 11:00 left in the half was its last field goal of the half. BC finished the first half with a 22-2 run. The visitors twice sank 1-of-2 free-throw attempts (with 8:15 and 2:36 to play in the half).
The Eagles began the second half with a 10-1 run to extend their margin to 40 points - 55-15.
NJIT ended its time without a field goal with 16:56 to play in the contest (ending a stretch of 14:04 without a basket).
Game Notes: Sophomore Evan Ravenel finished with eight points (6-for-6 FT) and seven rebounds in 13 minutes of action ... BC gained a 44-22 rebounding advantage ... BC shot 54.8 percent on the night - 60.0 percent in the first half and 50.0 percent in the second half ... NJIT's 32-point scoring output was the lowest single-game scoring total in Conte Forum history. The Highlanders' 12 field goals also marked a Conte Forum low ... Nine BC players scored in the first half ... Junior Biko Paris finished with seven assists and one turnovers, bringing his season assist-turnover ratio to 2.24. In the last four games, Paris has recorded 20 assists and just three turnovers in 134 minutes of action (6.67 assist-turnover ratio).
