
Men's Basketball Loses to Florida State, 61-57

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Rakim Sanders scored a game-high 17 points and classmate Joe Trapani netted 15 points to lead Boston College in a 61-57 ACC loss to Florida State before 8,188 fans in Conte Forum.
The game was tied with one minute to play, before FSU junior Derwin Kitchen hit the Seminoles' only three-pointer of the day with 43.9 seconds left to give the visitors a 57-54 advantage. After a BC turnover, Michael Snaer sank two free throws with 30.5 seconds to play to extend the lead to five points.
After both teams missed the front end of one-and-one opportunities, BC sophomore Reggie Jackson hit from three-point range with 8.5 seconds left to narrow the margin to two points.
Kitchen hit two free throws with 7.8 seconds to play to secure the win for Florida State.
BC trailed 10-2 early in the contest, before running off 11 straight points to gain a 13-10 lead. After FSU answered with four straight points, the Eagles rallied again. BC used a 7-0 run to claim a 20-14 lead with 5:25 left in the half. Sanders capped this rally with a three-pointer.
BC finished the half with a 27-22 advantage.
Florida State fought back and evened the score at 34-34 with 13:52 left in the game. The Seminoles took a brief two-point lead at 40-38, before Jackson sank a three-pointer to put BC on top with 9:15 to play.
Two baskets by sophomore Dallas Elmore and a three-pointer from senior Tyler Roche headlined a 7-4 BC run to give the Eagles a 48-44 lead with 6:50 left.
Florida State responded with two field goals - at 6:21 and 4:57 - to even the score. There were three more ties before Kitchen's three-pointer in the final minute vaulted the visitors to victory.
Game Notes: BC was outrebounded 39-22 ... The Eagles attempted just four throws in the game, marking the program's lowest single-game total (FTA) since Al Skinner became the head coach in 1997-98. The previous low was five free throws attempted against Notre Dame on Feb. 28, 1999 ... The score was tied seven times. The lead changed hands eight times in the contest ... BC shot 6-for-9 from three-point range, led by two each from Sanders and Jackson. Florida State shot 1-for-13 from long range.
