Softball Picked Eighth In The ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll

The Boston College softball team was selected to finish eighth in the 2010 ACC Softball Preseason Coaches Poll. The announcement was made today by the Atlantic Coast Conference office in Greensboro, N.C.
The defending ACC Champion, No. 14 Georgia Tech, and last season's runner-up, No. 19 Florida State, were chosen as the favorites to capture the league title. The Yellow Jackets pulled in 45 points and four first-place votes, while the Seminoles received 45 points and three first-place votes.
No. 22 North Carolina was picked to finish in third place with 39 points and one first-place vote.
Following the Tar Heels (in order) were Virginia Tech, NC State, Maryland, Virginia and Boston College.
The ACC is tied for third with three league teams represented in the top-25 poll, trailing the Pac-10 and Southeastern conferences.
The Eagles return 13 letter winners and eight starters from last year's team, and begin the 2010 season on February 19 against Centenary College in Corpus Christi, TX. The Eagles 2010 home opener is on March 24 against Central Connecticut State University.
