Former Eagle Hockey Great Bob Sweeney Inducted Into Beanpot Hall of Fame

Former Boston College hockey star Bob Sweeney (1982-86), who led the Eagles to the 1983 Beanpot championship, will be one of three inducted into the Beanpot Hall of Fame on Monday, February 1, 2010 at TD Garden.
Sweeney, Northeastern's Tim Marshall and Harvard's Fran Toland comprise this year's class and will be further recognized during ceremonies in between games of the first round of the 58th Beanpot Tournament
Marshall backstopped the Huskies to the 1984 title and Toland was the longtime associate athletics director at Harvard.
Sweeney, who graduated in 1986, made his mark on the Beanpot as a freshman in 1983 when his two goals and four assists helped BC to victories over Harvard and Northeastern. It was the Eagles' first tournament title in seven years and Sweeney earned MVP honors for his efforts. His 13 career Beanpot points leave him tied for fifth in the record book.
He earned All-America honors as a senior and went on to play 11 years in the National Hockey League, including six with the Boston Bruins. He is currently tied for 24th on BC's career scoring list with 152 points - 78 goals and 74 assists in 138 games.
Sweeney is currently the director of development for the Bruins Foundation and resides in North Andover, Mass.
