McLaughlin, Tennant To Play In Postseason Bowls

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Former Boston College football standouts Mike McLaughlin and Matt Tennant have been selected to take part in postseason bowls. McLaughlin will play in the East-West Shrine Game while Tennant will take part in the Under Armour Senior Bowl.
McLaughlin, who served as team captain for Boston College for the second time as a senior, accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game that will be played on January 23 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The game will be aired on ESPN2 at 3 p.m.
McLaughlin, a Woburn, Mass. native, battled back from a torn Achilles' he suffered in the spring to play in nine games in 2009. He was third on the team in tackles (56) and second in assisted stops (29). He finished his BC career with 221 tackles and 19.5 tackles for a loss.
Tennant, who is regarded as one of the top centers of the 2010 class, will play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl on January 30 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The game will be played at 3 p.m. CT and will be aired by the NFL Network.
Tennant, a Cincinnati, Ohio product, has started every game as the anchor of the Eagles' offensive line since 2007 - a total of 41 games. He was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy as a senior, presented to the outstanding center in college football.
EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME
The East-West Shrine Game is the oldest and one of the most respected of the postseason collegiate bowl games. Since 1925, the game has been known for the quality of the players and coaches, as well as for the excitement of great college football action.
Every year since 1925, the East-West Game has been played to raise funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children and to raise awareness about the expert orthopedic, burn, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and cleft lip and palate care, available at no charge to patients and families, through the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The Senior Bowl is the nation's most unique football game and football's premier pre-draft event, annually featuring the country's best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that are coached by the entire coaching staffs of two National Football League teams.
