CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College lacrosse team and Head Coach Bowen Holden have announced the hiring of former Eagle standout Maura Mahoney as a volunteer assistant. Mahoney returns to the Heights after a four-year career on attack. She was a member of the first four-year ACC class in Boston College history and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Communications. Mahoney ranks at the top of the record books for draw controls in a career, and was an instrumental leader on the offensive end as a captain during her senior year.
"I could not be happier that Maura has chosen to help us this year and get a taste for what coaching is all about" Holden said. "She has an incredible ability to understand the game, and I am looking forward to having her on the sidelines this fall. Having a former student-athlete on staff is a great testament to the tradition we are building, and Maura is a great representative of our program!"
Mahoney will work primarily with the offensive unit, as the 2010 Eagles look to build on the success of the 2009 season. The team opens up the fall scrimmage season this weekend with a tournament at Harvard on Sunday, October 4.
