Three Eagles Named To 2009 All-ACC Softball Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Boston College softball team had three of its members named to the 2009 All-ACC Softball Academic Team.
Sophomores Dani Weir and Irene Delagrammaticas, and freshman Morgan Kidd were the three Eagles to receive the honor.
Weir, who is a first baseman and a communications major for BC, is a first time recipient of the award. She started in 49 games for the Eagles last season finishing the year with a .261 batting average, and a team-high eight homeruns.
Delagrammaticas is a nursing major at Boston College. She was the starting shortstop last year, and is a two-time All-ACC Academic honoree. She started in all 51 games a year ago batting .260, and finished with a team-high 45 hits.
Kidd, a pitcher, is a first time recipient of the award who is majoring in finance. She appeared in 25 games last season, while starting seven of them. She posted a 1-5 record with a 4.40 ERA, 69 strikeouts and a team-high two saves.
Georgia Tech and Florida State led the ACC with six selections each. Virginia trailed with five selections, and North Carolina came in fourth with four members selected. Boston College followed the Tar Heels with three selections. NC State, Maryland and Virginia Tech each had two selections a piece. All eight ACC softball teams were represented on the 30-member team.
Eleven members of the All-ACC Academic Softball team were also tabbed All-ACC in 2009, and four individuals have made multiple All-ACC teams. A total of 13 players earned All-ACC Academic accolades for the second consecutive season, six for the third consecutive season and two players were four-time honorees.
To be considered for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the most recent semester and for their careers.
