Rowers Gain National, ACC Academic Honors

Five Boston College women's rowers have been named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athletes. The honorees are Liz Keyser, Liz Lobkowicz, Tracy Maciolek, Brigid Morrissey and Heather Schofield.
In order to receive this recognition, each student-athlete must be have a 3.5 grade-point average for her career, be at least a sophomore and have rowed in a minimum of 75 percent of her school's spring races.
Three of the five BC honorees - Keyser, Maciolek and Schofield - earned their undergraduate degrees in May 2009. Keyser was a history major, Maciolek was a secondary education and mathematics double major, and Schofield was a biology major. Lobowicz, an economics and history major, just completed her junior year, while Morrissey, an accounting major, completed her sophomore year.
In addition, four Eagles - Laura Harvey, Keyser, Maciolek and Schofield - gained Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Team honors. To be nominated for this team, student-athletes must have recorded a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average for the winter semester and have maintained a 3.0 career grade point average. Once the qualification standard is met, selections are based on a combination of academic and athletic achievement.
Maciolek and Harvey also gained All-ACC honors for their performances at the 2009 ACC Rowing Championship on Lake Melton in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Maciolek also gained All-ACC accolades in 2008.
The Eagles finished fourth in the 2009 ACC Rowing Championship.
