Boston College Lacrosse Announces Class of 2013

Boston College Head Lacrosse Coach, Bowen Holden, has announced the Eagles most recent recruiting class - the Class of 2013. Nine student-athletes from five different states will join the Eagles this fall, and they will look to help continue the growth of the program in the years to come. Caroline Barclay (North Andover/North Andover, MA), Brooke Blue (Stone Ridge/Bethesda, MD), Delaney Brault (Souhegan/Amherst, NH), Jessie Coffield (St. Stephens & St. Agnes/Alexandria, VA), Sophia Gouraige (Kent Place/Summit, NJ), Marissa Irwin (Branford/Branford, CT), Caroline Martignetti (Winchester/Winchester, MA), Ali Meagher (Bow/Bow, NH), and Kate Rooney (Oak Knoll/Basking Ridge, NJ) will join the eighteen other members of the 2010 BC Lacrosse team.
"I am looking forward to the arrival of these nine student-athletes this fall," commented Head Coach, Bowen Holden. "Each one of them brings the right type of character, athleticism, and work ethic needed to take this program to the next level. I look forward to seeing them join an already strong core of student-athletes here at BC."
Caroline Barclay
Midfield/North Andover, MA/North Andover High School/Team Rev Lacrosse Club
Barclay, a captain and National Honor Society member, comes to Boston College after an impressive high school career at North Andover. After being named Rookie of the Year in 2006, she helped guide her team to two Cape Ann League Championships in 2007 and 2008. Barclay also represented Lower New England at the US Lacrosse National Tournament in 2008 on LNE 2. An accomplished swimmer, as well, Barclay will join the Eagles at midfield next season.
Brooke Blue
Attack/Bethesda, MD/Stone Ridge School/Capital Lacrosse Club
Blue is an attacker who will arrive at the Heights with two team MVP awards, All-Gazette 1st team honors in 2009, and All-ISL honors in 2008 & 2009. She was also named captain of her team this past season, as well as captain of the field hockey team. She was also honored by the Washington Post for field hockey and named team MVP in 2008. Blue and Eagle classmate, Jessie Coffield, were teammates on the Capital Lacrosse Club.
Delaney Brault
Midfield/Amherst, NH/Souhegan High School/Granite State Elite Lacrosse Club
Coming off an undefeated state championship team in 2008, Brault will join the Eagles at midfield next season. A four-year varsity letter-winner and captain her senior year, Brault also earned All-State honors during her career. Additionally, she represented Upper New England at the US Lacrosse National Tournament on UNE 1. She, and Eagle classmate, Ali Meagher, were teammates on the Granite State Elite lacrosse club and will be reunited at BC.
Jessie Coffield
Midfield/Alexandria, VA/St. Stephens & St. Agnes School/Capital Lacrosse Club
A midfielder, Coffield helped lead her team to two straight state championships in 2008 and 2009. As a captain her senior year, she was awarded the John Morrow Stanton Athletic Award and the Alexandria Sportsmen Club lacrosse player of the year. Additionally, her high school team won several ISL conference championships. Coffield and Blue will be united on the field again after competing together on the Capital Lacrosse Club.
Sophia Gouraige
Midfield/Summit, NJ/Kent Place School/Metro Lacrosse Club
As a midfielder, Gouraige helped her team to the Union County Championship in 2008 and Kent Place was tanked 13th in New Jersey in 2009. Captain her senior year, Gouraige also competed in cross-country for four years and winter track. Her cross-country team was also Union County Champions in 2006. Gouraige, and BC classmate, Kate Rooney were teammates on the Metro Lacrosse Club.
Marissa Irwin
Defense/Branford, CT/Branford High School/CTLF Lacrosse Club
Irwin will arrive at BC after a strong high school career that includes US Lacrosse Academic All-American accolades and Connecticut Super Junior honors, both in 2008. She was also named a member of the National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, and a semifinalist of the Connecticut Governor's Scholar Program. Additionally, she competed on the varsity field hockey team, and was captain her senior year, earning All-State Scholar-Athlete honors and the midfield MVP award.
Caroline Martignetti
Attack/Winchester, MA/Winchester High School/Mass Elite Lacrosse Club
One of eight children, Martignetti joins the Eagles' program after winning a Massachusetts state title her junior year. She was also named a Middlesex League 2nd team All-Star that year and represented Lower New England on LNE 2 at the US Lacrosse National Tournament. A 1st team All-Galaxy honoree in 2007 and 2008, Martignetti captained both her lacrosse and varsity soccer teams as a senior. She also received the Senior Academic Award at Winchester High School.
Ali Meagher
Midfield/Bow, NH/Bow High School/Granite State Elite Lacrosse Club
A New Hampshire native, Meagher comes to BC after leading her team to a NH State Championship in 2007 and being named the Bow High School Junior Female Athlete of the Year in 2008. In addition, she was 2nd team All-State (2007), 1st team All-State (2008), Team MVP (2008), and a US Lacrosse All-American (2008). She also represented Upper New England on UNE 1 at the US Lacrosse National Tournament. A three-sport athlete, Meagher also competed in basketball and field hockey. She was a two-year captain of her lacrosse team and captain of her basketball team as a senior. An honor roll student and the Vice President of her class as a freshman, junior and year, she received the NH Female Senior Academic-Athletic Award in 2009.
Kate Rooney
Midfield/Basking Ridge, NJ/Oak Knoll School/Metro Lacrosse Club
A midfielder, Rooney made the Under Armour underclass team in 2008, and was honored as 2nd team All-Galaxy. She was also listed among Inside Lacrosse's rising senior players to watch. As captain of her team senior year, Rooney helped Oak Knoll to four straight Logan Division and NJSIAA Prep A Championships. An honor roll student, Rooney also captained the field hockey team, earned the team's dedication award, and helped lead the team to state, county and conference championships in 2007 and 2008. She also ran winter track for three years. Rooney and Gouraige competed together on the Metro Lacrosse Club.
