CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Former Boston College football players Robert Francois and Brandon Robinson have both signed free agent contracts with NFL teams. Francois was signed by the Minnesota Vikings while Robinson joined the Philadelphia Eagles.
Francois took over the starting will linebacker role after Brian Toal suffered a broken leg against Virginia Tech on October 18, 2008. He started the last eight games of the season and was third on the team with 82 tackles and 47 solo stops. Francois also recorded nine tackles for a loss, two sacks and returned an interception for a touchdown against Maryland.
Robinson was one of the most consistent wide receivers to ever come through BC. He ranks third in program history with 141 receptions and his 2,023 career receiving yards place him in sixth all-time in that category. Robinson started all 14 games at wide receiver in 2008 and led the team with 646 yards, a 15.4 yards per catch average and a 46.1 per game average. He finished the year with three touchdowns.
Robinson also earned football's Scanlan Award, awarded to the senior player who best exemplifies the ideals of Tom Scanlan '20; scholar, athlete, gentleman and friend.
