Women's Rowing Races at Knecht Cup

Boston College women's rowing continued their spring season Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. This year's regatta, hosted by Villanova University, featured over 50 schools from across the country.
The Eagles competed in the Varsity Eight, the Second Varsity Eight, the Varsity Four, the Second Varsity Four and the Novice Eight races.
On Friday, BC's Varsity Eight placed second in their preliminary heat in a time of 7:14.7, behind Wisconsin. The Eagles then placed fourth in the semifinals in a time of 7:35.0 and then advanced to the petite final on Saturday. BC finished fourth in 7:26.0 seconds. George Mason won the close race in a time of 7:20.0.
In the Second Varsity Eight, the Eagles placed third in their preliminary heat in a time of 7:34.9 and then advanced to Saturday's petite final. BC won the final in a time of 7:43.0, finishing five seconds ahead of UConn.
In the Varsity Four, BC raced to a fourth place finish in Friday's preliminary heat in a time of 8:36.7.
For the Second Varsity Four race, BC placed second behind West Virginia in the finals with a time of 64:33.5.
BC's Novice Eight finished fifth in their preliminary heat in a time of 8:44.0.
The Eagles look forward to this regatta every year. "The Knecht Cup is a great event with a large number of schools and an opportunity to get several races in one weekend," said assistant coach Mac Cannady.
