Men's Track & Field Excels at ACC Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Boston College men's track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2009 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing 11th in the event held at Cobb Stadium at the University of Miami.
The team finish is the best for the Eagles since joining the ACC and its nine points were the most ever in an ACC Championship. Virginia and Florida State tied for first place with a total of 141 points. Virginia Tech finished in third with 130.
The Eagles posted many personal bests in the event. Senior Timothy Ritchie led the way when he finished third in the 5000m with a time of 14:20.44. His finish was the best individual performance by a student-athlete at the ACC Championships since joining the conference.
Ritchie also finished seventh in the 10,000m by crossing in 31:24.50.
Sophomore Mathew Kosmas also earned a point for the Eagles when he placed eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.75m.
The men will take part in the Penn Relays next weekend in Philadelphia.
