Eagles Advance To Finals In Three Events At ECAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston College women's track and field team participated in the first day of the 2009 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
Junior Caitlyn Bailey qualified for the finals in the 800m run with a NCAA Provisional time of 2:08.93 which was the third-best mark of the day. Graduate student Mary Heitkamp will join Bailey in the finals as she placed sixth with a time of 2:10.08.
Junior Samantha Gawrych and freshman Kaitlyn Cooney both advanced to the finals in the 1000m. Gawrych had the day's best time, coming in at 2:50.98 while Cooney came in seventh with a mark of 2:53.08.
The 4x800m relay team of juniors Gretchen Andrus and Christine Sullivan and sophomores Siobhan Breagy and Madeline Wallace also qualified for the finals with a time of 9:02.55. It is the fifth-best time in school history.
Action picks up tomorrow at 1 p.m. with the awards ceremony scheduled for 3:40 p.m.
