
Men's Basketball Falls To Wake Forest, 93-76

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Sophomore Joe Trapani scored 19 points and senior Tyrese Rice scored 18 points to lead Boston College in 93-76 loss to seventh-ranked Wake Forest.
Sophomore Corey Raji contributed 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while classmate Josh Southern added 12 points and six rebounds.
The Eagles trailed 17-11 just more than five minutes into the game, before scoring 13 straight points - nine by Trapani - to claim a 24-17 lead. The host Demon Deacons then used a 10-2 run to reclaim the lead.
Wake Forest extended the margin to four points - 34-30 - before BC answered with an 11-3 rally of its own to gain a 41-37 advantage with 3:02 left in the first half. The home team evened the score at 41-41, but BC finished the half with a 47-46 lead when Trapani converted one free throw with 2.7 seconds left.
BC took a 52-50 lead on a Trapani dunk with 18:28 to play, before Wake Forest ran off seven straight points to take the lead for keeps. BC closed to within three points - 64-61 - on a Rice trey with 12:52 left, but the Demon Deacons answered with another 7-0 rally to gain a double-digit advantage. BC scored the next four points, before Wake Forest extended the margin further with a 10-2 run .
Game Notes: BC gained a 21-11 rebounding margin in the first half. Wake Forest gained a 20-10 edge in the second half ... BC scored 20 second-chance points, 16 in the first half ... The lead changed hands 15 times in the game. The score was tied nine times.
