Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Six members of the Boston College women's rowing team served as volunteers at Boston's first-ever Adaptive Indoor Rowing Challenge held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at the Harry Parker Boathouse, the home venue of BC rowing.
Adaptive indoor rowing allows people with a disability to race with each other via a main computer. The event, which was hosted by Community Rowing, Inc., featured 12 athletes competing in four major events--the 100, 500, and 1000-meter races as well as the 1000-meter pair race. Each race was categorized by arms only; trunk and arms; and legs, trunk and arms. Medals were given to the fastest three female and male rowers in each event.
