At the Brandeis Invitational, the men's fencing team got off to a slow start, dropping four matches. The team fell to St. John's 17-10, Brown 16-11, Yale 18-9, and UNC 15-12.
The final meet against UNC was the closest contest of the day. Sabre went 8-1, but epee, which had been successful in the three previous meets, was only able to post 2 wins, while foil added another 2.
Individual performances by Peter Souders and John Choi offered a silver lining for the day. Souders went 9-3 in sabre and Choi was 8-4 in epee.
Fencing returns to action after the Christmas Break, hosting a Northeast Fencing Conference meet on January 23rd.
